AI Mediation Movement’s website is built to collect as little personal information as possible.
What we collect directly
This website has no sign-up forms, no accounts, and no cookies of our own. The only cookies involved are the analytics cookies described below. If you follow our Updates page through the RSS feed, no personal information passes through us at all. An RSS reader fetches our public feed directly, the same way it would fetch any other website’s.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics to count how many people visit this website and which pages they read, so we can tell whether our work is reaching people. When you visit, Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser (named _ga and _ga_ followed by an identifier). They hold a random identifier that lets Google Analytics recognize repeat visits, and they can last up to two years. Google Analytics receives information about your visit: the pages you view and how you interact with them (such as scrolling and clicking links that lead off our site), roughly where you are (a city or region worked out from your IP address, which Google says it does not log or store), your browser and device type, and the site you came from.
We don’t collect your name, email address, or anything else that identifies you directly, so we have nothing like that to send to Google. We don’t run advertising on this website, our analytics setup doesn’t use Google’s advertising features (Google signals and ad personalization), and we don’t use this information to build profiles of individual visitors. Google processes the information on its own servers, including in the United States, under Google’s privacy policy. You can opt out at any time:
- If your browser tells our website that Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control is turned on, Google Analytics doesn’t load, and nothing about your visit is sent to Google. Not every browser shares these settings with websites, so the add-on below is more reliable.
- You can install Google’s Analytics opt-out browser add-on, or block scripts and cookies from Google in your browser’s settings.
What our hosting provider collects
Like any website, ours runs through a hosting provider, which automatically logs standard technical information for every visitor, such as IP address, browser type, and request timestamps, as part of operating and securing the infrastructure the whole internet runs on. We don’t access this data for tracking or profiling. It is separate from the analytics described above.
If this changes
If we add a way to sign up for updates by email, accept donations online, or change how we use analytics, this policy will be updated first, with a new “last updated” date above.
